This is actually be a good thing for SG. BR will get more St. George money to squander. St. George residents get great community schools and will prosper in the long run. This ransom is a small price to pay for all the benefit of incorporation.

But those property taxes won't be. They drive upward with very major revenue center that annexes.

Dude (or dudette), just stop. You tried this 'whistling through the graveyard' strategy last night on the Poli Board.

Neither a city of St George nor a St George independent school district can be financed without the sales tax money from the Mall of La and Perkins Rowe. The city of SG would lose almost half of its budgeting funding.....which was already stretched to an unfeasible amount.

To make up for the loss of sales taxes from the Mall SG residents would have to vote almost triple property tax increases on themselves. That won't happen.

Yep, and SG can offer attractive encentives to get new businesses to locate there. The mall hurts, but if they can survive long term without it, all the better. Taking mall taxes wasn't the primary goal anyway.

Silver lining, BR is admitting desperation by doing this. It shows they were beat and are now just delaying the inevitable....SG will happen. I don't live anywhere around there, but I know economic warfare, and this shows weakness/fear in BR's case.
