It really was a different era. The drums that college players should get more money are beating louder, The lawsuits for head injuries increasing. Kids with a focus on making it to the NFL are looking at their commitment to a school as only 3 years. That is the goal for them, and should you RS you can pretty much call him a two year contributor if his hype pans out.

Hell you even have kids leaving after 3 to grab a FA contract. It was happening in 2004, but not at the rate it is today.
