If we can give Ray $1 Mil plus, surely we could throw $1.2 plus at Shaka. Give him incentives to make a ridiculous amount if he attains lofty goals.

We talked to Shaka at the time -- and word that I heard was it was going to take $2.5 for him to seriously consider it. The same we were paying Mullen at the time -- for something that was always likely to be shitty for a couple of years.
That said, his name isn't quite as hot as it was when we made the Ray hire. So, maybe we can get him for $2.2 next year if Ray sucks -- and if Shaka doesn't make a deep run in the tournament either of the next 2 seasons...
Even if Ray ultimately fails next year -- the overall situation will be much more attractive to an incoming coach IMO...
