I have no sympathy for him. If you are a public figure, you have to guard your tongue. Or, in this case, fingers. He made it very easy for someone to find out who he is. And while the ethical stuff may be borderline, many of the things he said don't meet the standard of behavior I expect for an elected officer of the court. If these comments are an example of his thoughts and actions, that's fine; he can be an arse if he wants to be. But that's not the kind of person I think should be deciding legal matters. Too immature and biased, by far.

Yeah, he was a dumbass and liked to flaunt his success and authority too much.

Zero sympathy but his posts weren't that offensive.

Looks like some a-hole is out to get him.

I don't have any sympathy for him either, and while I didn't find his comments all that offensive, they certainly crossed a line for someone in his position.

Agree. What's troubling is when people who are in positions where they have say in the lives of the very people they express a pattern of prejudice and/or disdain for.

When someone like a judge, officer, firefighter/first responder, prosecutor/DA, social worker etc. who serves as an extension of the government directly or via the government contracting them out to serve a government function that can cause harm to citizens to say them it's problematic to say the least. Joe and Jane average who don't work with the power of the state behind them can't lock people up, preside over cases, delay so that homes burn down or delay first responses to certain neighborhoods causing people to die via inaction, take away the children of specific groups they don't like/determine there's cause to file abuse charges against them and so on but others who work positions where they are charged by the state to execute certain functions do have that power.

It's particularly troubling when a JUDGE expresses these views because a judge has so much direct power in terms of the life of citizens and Judge must have the ability to be impartial. And from the looks of it, we're not talking about a one off comment here or a single moment of being jackwad or even more typical internet stupidity, participation in a meme or ironic statement in this case but rather a consistent pattern bashing a group and/or groups calls and that calls into question any ability to serve the public equally without prejudice or partiality.
