He's probably surrounded by people who are telling him how awesome he is right now. The downside will not come until he's struggling at the next level.

respect for what? admitting he's gay? Who cares.

Also, any criticism he is getting is brought on by himself. His "look at me. im gay" is nothing more than a cry for attention
