2010: USC Special Teams were average in the Conf and Nationally.
2011: USC Special Teams were bad in the Conf and Nationally.
2012: USC Special Teams..frick I thought we were good b/c of Ace but we were below avg again.
2013: USC Special Teams were amongst the worst in the Conf and Nationally.
I have a thing for stats, I like the simple truths that they can show, especially over time, and that's why I like this website below. They created a very simple formula to measure the Overall Special Team's Efficiency for CFB teams and then ranked them.
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/feist
Here's how USC has stacked up on Spec Team National Rankings the past 4 seasons:
2013 - 114th
2012 - 86th
2011 - 112th
2010 - 75th
There's a problem, our Special Teams haven't even been average at best over arguably the best 4 years of our program's history. Saban has said many times that it takes all players to perform at a high level to win a BCSCG. I can think of several Spec Teams plays that cost us games since Spurrier has been here. (Biggest one that comes to mind is the Fake FG at LSU.)
So what can we do? There are already websites out there that say who the best OC and DC Coaches are, but I haven't seen one for Spec Teams and Spec Team Coaches. I'm not saying "Fire Joe Robinson," but something needs to start getting in the works for us to change our Spec Team Production, b/c whatever we're doing now isn't working. (Except the FG Kicker, he's coming along ok, but that's it.)
So I wanted to list who are the best Spec Teams over the past 4 years and who their Spec Team Coaches are. Again, I'm not doing it to advocate firing Joe Robinson right now, but I'm just trying to figure out if something comes up, who are the best teams/people to watch.

Let's take a look at some of these Spec Team Coaches who have 2+ Years of a Top 25 Spec Team Eff Ranking.
Joe Robinson will earn $350K as a base in '14. It will put him in almost the Top 100 Asst Coaches nationally, but he'll be paid in the Top 20 for his position.
UF Spec Team Coach
It was Durkin, he's now DC - 1st year,
LSU Spec Team Coach
Thomas McGaughey - 3rd year, earns $310K, past 3 years has has a Top 10 Spec Teams Eff Ranking.Took over when Joe Robinson left to go to UNC.
Oklahoma State
Joe DeForest Coached at Ok State and Duke for over 15 years. Currently at WVU making $501K. Also coaches safeties. He was in the Top 10 for Spec Teams his last 3 seasons at Ok State for the Spec Team Eff Rankings....dayum. Decent as a recruiter from his Rivals profile, had a couple good years with a lot of 4 stars.
UCF
Tim Salem Is now in Illinois as their Spec Team Coor, he moved there after '12's season when 2 of his last 2 Spec Team Eff Rankings were in the Top 25. He's making $200K.
Mike Buscemi took over for Salem, and had a Top 25 Spec Team Defense last year, and he used to be a Spec Team player at UCF under Salem. He's getting paid $144K. HIs Dad is a HS FB Coach for a State Championship level program in FL....hmmm.
So Cal
John Baxter His last 3 Spec Teams were rated in the Top 25 for Spec Team Eff...and he's available for hire right now....His salary is not reported, but I would estimate over $500K easily. Decent as a recruiter.
Auburn/OK
Jay Boulware left Aub after '12 and went to OK, his last 2 Spec Team Eff Rankings at Aub were in the Top 25 and remained there a year after his departure. Decent recruiter. Earned $270K last year.
Ball St
Justin Lustig - past 2 seasons hist Spec Team Eff Ranking has been in the Top 25. From VA/PA area. Marginal recruiter, but always worked at smaller schools.
Earned $89K last year.
Standford
Pete Alamar - His past 2 Spec Team Eff Rankings are in the Top 10. He'd be a LONNNG shot. He probably makes north of $350K. Decent but not that special as a recruiter. Most of his experience is in CA.
Memphis
James Shibest - 2nd season in a row of a Top 15 Spec Team Eff Ranking. Used to be the Spec Team Coach at Ole Miss before Freeze. Earned $260K last year. Decent recruiter.
Toledo
Stan Watson - the past 2 seasons he had Spec Team Eff Rankings in the Top 25. He earned $65K last year. For coaching at Toledo and Bowling Green, he was actually a decent recruiter.

We do have a very real problem with our special teams. And I hate it because I really like Joe Rob and Abby .... but I figure he has one more year to turn it around or we'll find another.

I think that's fair. There's a lot that goes into coaching besides just the statistics you earn for the area you control, like recruiting, player development, player academics, staff comradery, etc... but Joe Rob's in his 2nd season of a below avg Spec Team Eff Ranking (86th and now 112th.) Also his recruiting has been decent, but not exceptional enough to overlook the on-field results.
If we go back and look at some of his past Spec Team Eff Rankings:
2013 - 112th USC
2012 - 86th USC
2011 - 89th UNC
2010 - 3rd LSU
2009 - 2nd LSU
2008 - 1st LSU
2007 - 32nd Arizona
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/feist2007
well damn...Joe Rob's had 3 Top 3 Spec Team Eff rankings in the Past 6 years, but the past 3 years have been well below average.... I wonder what LSU was doing so much differently than us when he was there vs what we're doing now?

I updated my 3rd post down with Coaches who are at the Top of the Spec Team Eff Rankings for the past 4 years.
Several of the "big" schools" have guys who have been ranked 3+ seasons at the top (out of the last 4.)
Then I included other Spec Team Coaches who's previous two seasons were ranked in the Top 25 for Spec Team Eff.
