There's no doubt it's happened, but assigning blame to them being Alabama fans, therefore they're crazy isn't appropriate either. I think they were just mentally unstable to begin with.

That said, winners usually attract that type of mentally unstable person because the team winning allows them to feel better about their shitty lives. When the team they've identified loses (particularly in a fashion that gets played over and over) it can cause the crazy to really come out.

TL;DR Alabama fans are not crazy, winning attracts crazies who become Alabama fans.
