If you throw Baton Rouge and Montgomery in there, the Saints (NO/BR) area would increase by +/-0.8M and Birmingham would increase by +/-0.4M.
The Southeast Louisiana Region plus the MS Gulf Coast as a whole is considerably bigger than the larger region around Birmingham.
A large region can support NFL teams because its one game a week on a weekend. Not true for NBA/MLB. They need really highly populated urban areas. We'll see how long New Orleans keeps the Pelicans. I hope it's a long time.

I don't get why Bama or auburn fans don't just cheer for the titans or the falcons. But it doesn't matter you can be a fan of whoever
