The misunderstanding here is that to a Protestant Christian, the entire concept of morality is based on sin, which is based in the Bible, which is a book about God. To them, they are one and the same. Morality can and does exist outside of a religious context.

Well the bible is actually several books written by several authors at different times and in different languages and about multiple topics, everything from history, genealogy, community laws, songs and poetry, to the gospels and so on. It's not meant to be read as a single book like a novel but is rather a collection of works. Although, a lot of literalists do seem to think it's some a single book about God.
