YOu said it...auburn won 3 games last year and was unranked this year. They climbed the rankings because they kept winning, not because of what SEC teams won bowls last year. And yes, I get your point that that affected preseason rankings, but after about week 4 those preseason rankings are essentially meaningless as the cream rises to the top. Auburn would be in the title game this year had they started at #5 or unranked.

Yes, but they beat the other teams that were ranked early to climb the rankings. Our conference sets itself up for BCS success by having more teams ranked in the Top 25 the whole year. If those teams win, they move up, if the other SEC teams beat them, then they move in and up.
