What were talking about is a JOB. It's just like any other job. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the job itself.
There are great places in LA. Every city has good parts. I am referring to the traffic, pollution, noise, etc. If you live close to USC's campus, you are living in the ghetto. If you live somewhere nice, it takes you 3 hours to get to the office. That makes the job a lot less attractive.
Really? If they double his salary, he is make less money than he currently makes at A&M when all factors are considered. You think he is going to have "no problem" with California's cost of living?
USC regularly recruits against UCLA, ASU, U Dub, Stanford, and most notably Oregon, which was built on LA high school football.
This is what I think as well. I also don't think there is much of an advantage to going from a job where the facilities are top notch, recruiting is top 10, fans and administration are patient, and recruiting is done via the Swaggcopter. USC has many perks, but no advantage that would cause a coach to move from one top 25 all-time program to another. It would be foolishly risky, given the state of USC football.

Why would Sumlin jump ship after only 2 seasons?
If he remains successful at A&M, in the SEC, his stock will continue to rise.
The landscape of the SEC is changing. Saban gonna retire soon. LSU in decline as we've been told. He can win a couple of conference championships before looking at his options.
He could name his salary in 5 years. USC will have a need for another coach by then. No need to take a risk now
