Different animal, no pun intended.
Individual behavior vs institutional control.
LSU had a rogue coach. Player never saw the field, and now plays significant downs in the NFL. Coach dismissed.
I think when you factor in Clinton-Dix has played games this season, and coach is on indefinite leave, things get dicey.
I would not be at all surprised to see this matter unresolved until season's end. Too much at stake to take a chance on an unfavorable ruling. Networks would not be happy.
Especially with Emmert's botching of Miami and crippling of USC, along with his established relationship with Saban. I know the conference can find a way around it. I'm just not sure that they will feel a sense of urgency here.
