I prefer Kendall to Joe Person. Didn't realize there was so much dislike for him.

Joe Person was a scumbag back stabbing egomaniac along the lines of Mike Morgan. But at least you knew not to trust Joe Person because you knew he was doing his level best to try to sensationalize everything, every story, every bit of information he garnered from whomever.
Person loved making front page news out of page six stories - especially if they were bad stories. And he had a rep for pitching temper tantrums if his stories did not all see front page coverage.
Kendall simply does not like being here. He too is looking to make his bones by breaking something bad on Spurrier.
Kendall is the first beat reporter in the history of The State to be so involved covering recruiting - and he is not doing it in a productive, good, way. He asks prospects very leading questions when he does actually do a story on prospects. He leaves the mundane stuff to interns and the lacky Kornblut, but when he does go recruitnic digging he always asks leading questions with the hope of digging up some dirt.

Is it not possible to get one... just one writer that actually likes USC to write stories for us?

I do believe you're going to be proven correct about that. I also think David will resist any attempts by his editors to direct him to do otherwise.
