I just cannot fathom the human polls picking Texas and Oregon over Bama if all three teams have the same record. I mean perhaps if Bama really looks awful this year and manages to squeeze out several victories while Texas and Oregon win in commanding fashion, and the SEC sucks in non conference play (Florida loses to FSU and Miami, SCarolina loses to Clemson, Georgia loses to Clemson, LSU loses to TCU) then maaaaaybe the perception will be that the SEC is a shitty conference. But I have a better chance of walking on to a collegiate team than this happening. And I have no eligibility left.
ETA - In this fantasy scenario, Clemson would be the best team in the country.
And yes, Im aware that the computers go by the teams you play, not the conference you in. Are the two different? I dont really think so because the teams you play are rated by the success against the teams they played. So Florida losing their OOC games would negatively impact LSU's SOS and computer ranking because Florida will be ranked lower, and that would in turn impact Alabama's SOS.

How many times in this thread have i said with scar and georgia losing to clemson, i think tcu will play us close but we win, florida loses to fsu. With oregon not missing a beat in the way they win and big 12 being the big 12 again bc of emergence of baylor, ok state k state tcu and wvu.
