you cant always go off of stats to determine whether certain position players are good or not. especially if they dont play in the type of offense that will showcase them. NFL scouts have proven that time and time again. they drooled over Cooper from Bama last season. And they drool over the freshman they had last year who got hurt. He was suppose to start over Cooper.

QB:
Sophomore Brandon Allen. Once heralded by Bobby Petrino and Garrick McGee as the best freshman QB they'd ever seen. Often unjustly judged on poor limited performance in last year's abortion of a season when Tyler Wilson went down with a concussion.

Junior AJ Derby. Former 4 Star QB. Currently a walk on at Arkansas after transferring from a JC. Used to be a LBer at Iowa before that. Who knows what's going on with this kid.

RB:
Sophomore Jonathan Williams. Averaged 5.1 YPC on 40 something carries last year as a true freshman 3rd stringer (should have been 2nd string all along). He had a breakout game against Kentucky (yeah, yeah) in which he caught 2 separate wheel routes both for more than 70 yards and a TD. He came in as more of a speedy outside runner (albeit a bigger one) but has out on 20 lbs and reportedly hasn't lost a step. Now weighing 223.

Freshman Alex Collins. Ranked the #1 RB in the 2013 class by 24/7 Sports. Didn't start playing football until his junior year of high school. Seemingly perfect blend of speed, elusiveness and explosiveness while still packing a punch upon impact. 5'11 and weighs 212 lbs. Can cut on a dime without losing speed and will make many defenders look like short bus material in one on one situations.

Sophomore Kody Walker. Big power back plagued with injuries. He was a sure thing for a TD as a goal like back in 2011 but broke something in early 2012 and was able to get a medical redshirt. Deceptive quickness for a guy weighing close to 250.

Sophomore Nate Holmes. Got his redshirt burned last year for no reason. He's a typical super fast scat back who will be used to motion out wide or to the slot a lot.

WR:

Seniors Javontee Herndon and Julian Horton. Both have seen lots of playing time over their careers but never all that much production. That's not for a lack of skill. These are still Petrino WRs. In 2011 they were sitting behind Joe Adams, Greg Childs, Jarius Wright and Cobi Hamilton. All of them are now in the NFL. They got overlooked last year because without Bobby calling plays, Tyler Wilson showed a complete inability to share the ball with anybody other than Cobi Hamilton. These are arguably the hungriest 2 players on the team and they'll be looking forward to finally being "the" guys.

Senior Denetrius Wilson: one of the best JC WRs in the 2012 class. Supposed to be crazy fast. Showed flashes of what he can do last year but like Herndon and Horton, couldn't get the ball because Tyler only threw to Cobi.

Sophomores Keon Hatcher and D'Arthur Cowan. I wish they both could have red shirted last year. shite I wish the whole team could have redshirted last year. But both of these guys are bigger and have more shake n bake than they do speed sort of like Greg Childs and they should be really good for us.

TE:

Senior Austin Tate. Just broke his collar bone and out about 4 weeks. Prototypical blocking tight end. Good threat in the red zone.

Sophomore Mitchell Loewen. Walk on eho will probably get a scholly this year. Big athletic white guy. Been shuffled around different positions and finally found a home at TE when Bert came to town. Been getting praised by the staff and fellow players for being more athletic than a 6'4 275 LB white guy should be. Could be a fun one to watch.

Freshman Hunter Henry. One of the top TE prospects (composite #3) in the country in 2013. Recruiting battle ended with him going with Arkansas over Florida. He's got it all. Great speed for a big guy, great size, great hands, great leaping ability. Only thing he's really behind in us blocking ability and getting his weight up (sitting at 240 and will be 260-270 when he's done) but that comes with the territory for a kid straight out of high school.

Like I said BESIDES cooper, none have shown to be anything special.

I'll wait to pass judgement on black after he at least catches ONE pass for the tide.

white started ahead of cooper for the first five games and had all of EIGHT catches in those five games. Not eyecatching numbers there.
