LSU

QB - Zach Mettenberger will start and look to improve under new offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron. Stephen Rivers is the likely backup, but could be challenged by true freshman Anthony Jennings for the starting job next year. Jennings could possibly be called upon this year to run a read-option type package in certain situations.

RB - LSU's running back corps may lack some of the depth that it's had in years past, considering that Jeremy Hill was suspended from late April to early August and may need to work himself back in shape. He may still face further suspension from Coach Miles (a 1 to 3 game suspension seems to be what is being floated around). Senior Alfred Blue returns after missing most of last season with a knee injury. Kenny Hilliard has apparently lost a significant amount of weight and will look to improve on his 2012 season. Junior Terrence Magee, a small but powerful runner, will likely see significant playing time also. Freshman Jeryl Brazil, who was recruited as a defensive back, has also been getting some work in at running back.

FB - Senior J.C. Copeland will be the primary lead blocker out of the I-formation. Connor Neighbors should also see some time at fullback as a more athletic, pass-catching type back. Freshman Melvin Jones has apparently been moved from linebacker to fullback and will likely be Copeland's replacement next year.

TE - LSU's tight ends have been used primarily as blockers for the past couple seasons, but may be used more in the offense under Cameron. Travis Dickson is the only returning tight end to have made a reception last year and is the likely starter. Junior college transfer Logan Stokes and true freshman DeSean Smith are both big, athletic guys who could also work their way into significant playing time.

WR - Speedy receivers Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry are two proven weapons returning from last year. Junior college transfer Quantavius Leslie and redshirt freshman Travin Dural, who missed last season due to a knee injury suffered in fall camp, look to give LSU two receivers with size and speed, which was lacking last year. Kadron Boone and James Wright may see a reduced role this year as freshmen John Diarse and Avery Peterson will push them for playing time.
