The Roommate Switch

Nobody likes the 6-1-1 format. The SEC is the best conference because everybody wants to play everybody else as much as possible. Nobody is looking for the easy path (big difference from other conferences btw). Going to a 6-1-2 format is no better, IMO. The Roommate Switch plan solves everybody's issues with very minimal pain or sacrifice. Take a few minutes and check this out, and hats off to the guy behind this.

* preserves SEC championship game and divisional round-robin play
* play every SEC team at least every other year
* complete a home & home with every SEC team every 4 years
* preserves the historic annual SEC rivalry games (Bama/Tenn, Iron bowl, Egg bowl, AU/GA, GA/FL, Etc.)
* works in either an 8 or 9 game SEC schedule

The ONLY thing that will take some getting used to is the fact that this format has "odd year" and "even year" divisions. Instead of having a East and West Division champ, there would simply be the SEC champ and then a Division Champ (whichever division champ loses in the SEC championship game).

Don't get bogged down in how it works... Just look at YOUR team's schedule for the odd years and even years. Chances are you will like what you see. Then look at other team's schedules and you will find they are all pretty comparable.

Something has to give to make 14 teams work....might as well just be the East/West titles for the divisions.

BTW - I'm new here so if this has already been thrown around take it easy on me. I'm just glad to be home in the SEC.
