That was one of the factors that cost Auburn in 2004 (beating Tennessee twice who was their best win on the season).
As it goes now, with the pure dominance in bowl games and National Championships, there is no reason to add one. If the SEC eventually becomes a weaker conference and starts losing more than they win against other conferences, then I would assume it a good idea to change to a 9 game conference.
