Feel free to rank them, I'm just going to list some names.
John Abraham
Melvin Ingram
Jadeveon Clowney
Devin Taylor
Cliff Matthews
Andrew Provence (like Ingram, played DT/DE)
Kalimba Edwards
George Gause
Anyone else comes to mind? I know the DE position has changed a lot since the spread offense started to become really popular, so there might be some great DE's before the 1980's, but I can't remember.
ETA:
Eric Norwood
John Abraham
Melvin Ingram
Jadeveon Clowney
Devin Taylor
Cliff Matthews
Andrew Provence (like Ingram, played DT/DE)
Kalimba Edwards
George Gause

In my eyes right now John Abraham is number one. Clowney is basically a lock to pass him eventually.
Alright I feel dumb asking but is Norwood considered a DE?

Norwood was sort of a hybrid like Ingram, but wasn't called a hybrid but was called a OLB that got to play snaps with his hand in the dirt.
Norwood played his first 2 years at USC under Nix as a DE, and earned All-SEC honors doing it. When Ellis Johnson took over in '08, he switched Norwood and Mitchell and made Norwood a larger (around 270 lbs) OLB. I think the idea was more similar to moving Ingram and Clowney into the interior on certain passing downs, to give them a clearer lane to the QB...
So Norwood is considered by some as a OLB/DE by some, but he was really more like a 3-4 OLB playing in a 4-3 defense.....

When I thnk Norwood, I think OLB, but he was a rushing end on passing downs and he did get drafted as a DE. So yes, he should be added.
