So who ends-up playing on Saturdays this Fall?
I think, if I am counting right, only fourteen of those sixteen are on scholarship, three of those are technically Spurs, and two are walkons.

Bryany has the best opportunity to see PT this fall for the incoming guys. The guys listed above probably have the best shot at the 2 deep for that position right now.
It's a battle right now for LB positions, it's wide open, whoever wants it the most and works the hardest is going to get it, but right now, we don't have a clear starters.

Pretty talented group, they just need to grow up quickly.. Murray and Marshall concern me in Athens so early in the season with these young LB's.

Going into Athens concerns me a little too, I believe we have the more talented team. But our LB's have to grow up fast. I think this game becomes a shoot-out that we edge them on last the last trip to Athens!
If we ground pound them all game and play keep away from uga's offense, we will win by attrition.

What that will mean for us in that regard is that we're going to have to play lights-out in the secondary and get a ton of pressure up from from our DLine.
The beauty of most LBs is they are typically the most athletic people on the field along with the TEs ... that is why you can never recruit too many of them as is the case with Rainey and what he is doing versatility-wise.
Ward has been pretty open about saying the way he coaches LBs is to tell them what to do and just have them do it, keeping it simple. Occasionally you find one ala Shaq Wilson is was smallish but a student of the game - which made him play bigger than his size.
I think we have the talent, let's hope they have the ability to go with it and the willingness to stay within themselves and not try to play out of their limits of experience.
For that to happen someone on the defensive side of the ball is going to have to step forward as a field general and make sure people are where they are supposed to be ... which both Shaq Wilson and D.J. Swearenger were good at doing last season.
Who will that field general be? It's not gonna be a DLineman. I wanna say the two most likely candidates are going to be either LeGree, Brison Williams or GoLightly.

Don't know if it is fair to put this kind of expectation on the kid, but I was told tonight by my Son who attended the Charleston Fan Fest that Coach Spurrier mentioned Gerald Turner as someone they think can come in and play right away. Said Turner is a big time college prospect that everyone wanted as a MLB, can plug holes and still has excellent speed and athletism for his size. Very reminiscent of a Melvin Ingram type athlete ... and he is also a big fan of Melvin's and wants to try to emulate him.
