Maybe he is saving Orvis and Jamison for his subs after he pinch runs for Turner and Allen in the 5th.

Which is an awful idea IMO. Make the lineup and let them play. Don't take bats out of the lineup in a close game until the 8th at the earliest.

I could not understand his obsession to take a .300 hitter out last year for a .150 player all last year.

He plays L/R matchups religiously. Even if there is an .080 avg difference.
