but "Little Dixie"?

Yeah, it's were the most slave owners in Missouri lived at. Mizzou use to play Dixie up until the 70's. Read about that in a book about Mizzou football history. I don't know any other "yankee' school that played Dixie. Doubt if Iowa, KU, Illinois, Nebraska ever played that at football games. Also believe Mizzou use to have a confederate memorial on campus..

And this out of Springfield,MO...
Missouri State University band was in some controversy over playing "Dixie".

Mo. university chief sorry band played 'Dixie'

quote:

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Missouri State University is apologizing after its band performed "Dixie" at a site where three black men were lynched in 1906.

That takes some balls.

That's why I laugh when people call Missouri a bunch of "yankees".

Making huge generalization and labels is the root of this forced rivalry. don't bring history and facts that prove our similarities.

To be fair, Springfield, MO may be the most lily white town in America. I loathe it and love it for all of the same reasons.

220K pop with the suburbs, 90% white.
