Most embarrassing NCAAT loss? It would have to be, for the Gamecocks, their #2 seed loss to Richmond or their #3 seed loss to - hell, I put it out of my mind to ease the pain. I forget who. I think it was back to back years in the 90s under Eddie Fogler. Hell, if only Kevin Garnet and Jermaine O'Neal had not left early to go to the pros we would have won the National Championship that #2 seed year ... crap. This thread drug-up some bad memories.

It was Coppin State in 97 (15 seed)
Richmond in 98 (14)

And KG wasn't coming here, he was chosing between Michigan and Maryland when he was a recruit, but failed to get a qualifying ACT score

At least we've all heard of Valpo.

That crap game was the reason we've all heard of Valpo.

Thanks, right, Coppin State and Richmond.

With regard to KG I'd have to disagree. Eddie Fogler told a few of us personally, not long ago, that KG was committed to SC but never had any intentions of playing his college ball anywhere once he left Mauldin and headed to Farragut where the AAU guys and agents got their hands on him.

Additionally, there are photos floating around of KG wearing Gamecock hats on several different occasions ... not that it means anything, but it is what it is.

I guess we'll never know for sure friend. :D
