2013 Gamecocks: The Air Raid Commeth?!?!?!

I think 2013 is going to be a banner year in passing for the Gamecocks.
1.) 4 of 5 returning OL
2.) Top 2 QB's returning, and Thompson is making a case for the starting job.
3.) 4 of the Top 6 receivers returning.
4.) Best TE group in the nation.
5.) Absence of Lattimore will change the percentages of passing/rushing in passing's favor.
6.) I also honestly don't expect the defense to be as good as this year's, so though we play an easier schedule, we will play closer games.
7.) The QB's are actually passing VERY efficiently. I think Spurrier will really want to get back to the Cock n Fire/Fun n Gun style he created this season.

Wish I could be this excited but I'm honest.
1. Our offensive line sucks, I mean they can put the meat stick and the potatoes in the the mouth at the same time caliber of suck. The only offensive lineman with nards and the ability to start for another SEC team in TJ and he's dunzo. I think were severely handicapped at this position and I'm not impressed the least bit with year 3 is it for the Oline Coach.
2. I hope so because Connor throws at the same target non stop and they're both gone Ace and Alshon. Thompson at least knows we have other receivers.
3. None of those 4 returners can I saw without a shadow of a doubt are #1 material and would be starters on any other SEC team. Now I don't know if thats they're fault or if it was due to Connor staring at ACE on every play.
4. I don't know where we get this "best tight ends in the nation" stuff and your not the first one I've heard mention it. We don't use them and the stats don't justify that moniker at all.
5. No shite because our Oline is weaker than my grandpa's erection. I honestly think the days of us signing big time RB's are over if we don't showcase Mike Davis. Latti never every got the blocking he deserved and thus far neither has Davis.
6. Agreed secondary = scary, LInebackers = scarrier. I have no clue why we couldn't sign any stud linebackers. Heres the sales pitch " hey Joe Schmoe Rivals top 5 linebacker" you can go to Bama and sit for 2/3 years or start for us in a few months.
7. He has no choice and with as mediocre as the O line is it will be the only thing that give Mike Davis or any other running back space to actually run.
Not being a negative nancy but I'm prepping for a let down year. Give me ACE, TJ and our entire Defense back and I'll guarantee you a BCS.

Last year we had 491 carries and 365 pass attempts. We favored the run b/c we had Lattimore and a mobile QB in shaw for most of the season.
This coming year, we won't be in the position with our personnel to ground out the games. Also, we have a lot of talent in the receivers. We are going to be throwing more.
Oh Peter, last year USC had two Freshmen at OT and their backups were Soph's. We had a Soph at LG and it was Patrick's first season starting at RG. All 4 of those guys are returning. Very few SEC OL can dominate the competition their first year starting.
I don't think we were watching the same games. Connor and Dylan had near the best completion percentages and QB ratings in the conference. Couple that with Bruce avg'ing less than half a reception a game less than Ace. Also, Ace had the most receptions, but it was only 5 more than Bruce. We spread the ball around really well.
Bruce was:
9th in the conference for receiving TD's,
13th in yards per reception,
14th in total yards,
so he's not the conference's best receiver, but he would start for most teams.
We DO have the best grouping of TE's. Rory will probably be on the pre-season All SEC team. Adams was the Freshman All SEC team TE this past season. Owens and Rainey were going to provide depth. (Rainey might move to LB though.) Name 1 group of TE's that's better.
We just signed the #8 APB in David Williams....
We're the leader for the #1 APB, Darrell Scott for 2014....
....are you serious?!? We just signed the nation's #4 ILB in Larenz Bryant. We're also going to probably sign another 4 star LB in Skai Moore.

Let me start by saying I hope your right but again I'm a realist and its really pathetic that were the only people keeping our bored alive. Fricking Vandy board is getting more play than we are.
You don't expect me to believe that you believe we've got anyone behind Bruce ready to step up and take the #2 role. He was the go to and honestly it caught me by surprise. Good god imagine if AJ hadn't gone pro. Don't you get me daydreaming.
Really because LSU and Alabama's offensive line don't seem to have an issue with plugging in a young player at Oline.
I stand corrected Bruce surprised and your right. But you have to agree that Connor stares at Ace alot of the time. And lets be real behind Ace and Bruce our other non tight end receivers numbers aren't that great.
Bruce Ellington 40 600 15.0 43 7
Ace Sanders 45 531 11.8 36 9
Damiere Byrd 14 366 26.1 94 (TD) 3
Rory Anderson 14 271 19.4 51 (TD) 5
Nick Jones 12 197 16.4 70 0
D.L. Moore 8 139 17.4 62 2
Jerell Adams 4 90 22.5 33 1
Shaq Roland 5 80 16.0 30 (TD) 1
DeAngelo Smith2 46 23.0 30 (TD) 1
K.J. Brent 3 28 9.3 14 0
Qua Gilchrist 2 19 9.5 10 0
Blair Lowery 1 5 5.0 5 0
Probably be, were doing probably's now? I don't know how to look up the stats on the most productive Tight Ends in College football. But I can tell you we ain't it and thats not there fault.

I'm aware of David Williams know nothing of Darrell Scott. Recruiting doesn't mean shite to me unless they are on campus and in a desk. My point was that Latti never got the blocking he deserved here and Mike Davis hasn't yet either. If David Williams doesn't as well. How long before top RB's start saying " the hell with that they won't block for me like Alabama will."
Dead serious my man, had no clue regarding either one of them. Last time I checked were very short handed in this area and the guy we took to the doctor for free flipped on us. But I think for good reason as we needed a now not a future.

WLC.... I understand your concern for the Oline... and I would go as far as to say I dont think you like Elliot too much....
But you paint a picture that we are doomed for some reason. I think we will be different offensively, but not terrible, we are so close to being an explosive team offensively
I believe with the growing pains of last years Oline.. we go backfield by committee, Wilds is a workhorse type back to pound between the tackles while Davis is explosive on the outside. You know SS will rotate those QB's if one isn't producing like he should. Our Oline isn't great but I think they get better this year. As for the WR's we will go as far as our #2 man will take us whether it be Roland, Byrde, whoever..because Bruce will come in as #1 and get all the attention
Defensively.... Yikes!!! I think we have a very steep learning curve to overcome in the LB position and especially the spur spot... It is a huge cog in the defensive scheme. And the leghumpers will be anxious to exploit our youngens in the defensive secondary. Spring game will us a better idea of what we are looking at.

Our OL has had to climb out of huge hole for a number of years. Coach Elliott has done a great job of navigating the position back onto it's feet, and only NOW is he getting the unit to the point where we have a majority of the starters with starting experience and development under their belts.
The depth has improved to the point where we're no longer expected to put true freshmen into starting positions or having to play them in back-up roles (yes, we will have to start RS-freshman Waldrop at OC due to Harris flunking out, which was not Plan A). The incoming talent is now as high as it's ever been, and the depth is still building. Our OL will have some of the best experience in career starts as any OL unit under Spurrier, and only 1 of them will be a senior. The future is looking much better at the position...
The running game also dealt with attrition over the past 2 seasons. Lattimore being lost for about an entire seasons worth of games, Carson being lost for both seasons, Wilds being lost for last season. Shaw being hobbled all season long. Last year's rushing offense is NOT what we should expect from our offense if the primary players can remain relatively healthy for a season...

I don't think were doomed I'm just being realistic. I don't think were a BCSNC team this year.
- Clowney will not be enough for our defense. He's literally about all we got and we got a lot more holes now.
- Our Oline has not increased exponentially under Elliot as people would like to think. Our numbers went up simply because we had runners for a change not because our Oline made holes.
-Our receivers are a question mark in my opinion.

I'm sure.
I disagree that Clowney is all we have on defense. On the dline alone we have Quarles and Sutton who are proven playmakers.
In the secondary Vic Hampton should turn in an All-SEC season this year and Legree played well this year. Williams returns at one safety spot and if Gurley can return to pre-injury form I don't expect a lot of drop off from the loss of JungleBoi
Concerns at linebacker are reasonable since they are all inexperienced, but to say Clowney is our only player on defense is hyperbole and flat wrong
