It's almost that time of the year and I'm getting anxious! I want to know what you guys think of this year's team and if they can contend for the SEC.
Who do you think will be the Sunday starter? I'm guessing it will be Bailey but I could be wrong. Other candidates are Laxer/Buchanan/who else?
How much do you think Preston Overbey will play? Will he start at first base this year?
I'm really looking for Sykes Orvis to step it up this year and become that power bat we need in the middle of the order. I expect big things from him.
Can't wait to be back in those right field seats at Swayze!

I think Ellis will start out as the Sunday guy, but I would not be surprised if Bailey ended up there. He was much better than his ERA indicated last year.
I don't think Overbey will be an opening day starter. He hasn't progressed as much as coaches would like. He would be dangerous if Godwin can get him fixed though. That said I think Orvis and Allen will share DH/1B. Orvis is the only power lefty on the team. He's going to get a lot of innings this year.
The SEC might be harder to win in baseball than it is in football right now. It's that stacked. The West alone could have 4 top 10 teams before conference play begins.

I think Smith, Ellis and Laxer are fighting for Sunday. The 2 losers become mid week starters.
I think Bianco wants to keep Huber, Bailey, Greenwood and Buchanan in the bull pen.

I would guess the lineup would start with Mathis,?, Bousfield, Orvis, Allen.

Will Allen be catching or playing 1st?
I thought I heard he may move to 1st so Knight(?) could take over at catcher?

quote:Yeah, this is going to be much more of a speed and defense oriented team though. I expect them to be much more aggressive on the base paths.

Wilson will start at second since Gatlin is out with an injury.

Neither of the Overbey brothers have impressed me.
Maybe they'll prove me wrong this year.

I think Jake Overbey will start at SS.

If Preston could cut back the K's he would be a solid hitter.

I think Austin Anderson starts ahead of Overbey.
I still haven't forgiven him for his "bunt attempt" in the regional last year.

My mistake. I was thinking of Anderson
