I'm going to say it has to be a cultural difference. But it was nasty. I was in LA once and I ate at a chinese restaurant where they served some sort of duck dish, but the head of the duck was cut off and placed in the middle of the platter. I mean i wasn't sure what to do with it. Eat it? Leave it there? Why was it there in the first place?

if you wanna talk about chinese and duck... then this is way worse than that.

quote:

A balut is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines. They are common food in countries in Southeast Asia, such as Laos, Cambodia (pong tia koon ??????? in Cambodian)[1] and Vietnam (tr?ng v?t l?n or h?t v?t l?n in Vietnamese). They are often served with beer.
