"And promise not to raise the rates for the life of the tv deal". Exactly my worry. The history of most pay channels is the price does go up, often significantly, after the viewers are "hooked" on the progrmas offered. What is a dollar to today mite well be $4-$5 in 4-5 yrs down the road. What did Cox cost initially? Now, we get major increases all the time, due to rising costs, BS, etc.

... which was my point exactly. And let's remember the carriers are not putting-up with rapid rate increases anymore because they are having to budget rate increases to their subscribers long term.

That's why I think this will either have to be by subscription, (like a premium channel such as HBO or Cinemax), or else it'll be marketed like a "premium package" much like they do NCAA Basketball Full Court and NBA Ticket, etc.

In terms of inventory, I know for a fact the SEC is already telling member programs to start giving them X amount of inventory which means generating more than they already do at the moment.

Also, you're going to see the free exchange of TV, etc., dry-up on youtube and instead be used as replays. Meaning, all those games we can go over to youtube and watch right now and in the future - they'll be gone. There will be a video clips show on the new network and finding a completely game, sans commercials, on youtube will become a thing of the past in short order.
