Vascular compromise is a lot more common in a hip dislocation and femur fractures than most other dislocations and fractures because of the femoral artery.

Just read that on another board that someone is saying dislocated knee with possible arterial damage.

Knee dislocation has a (relatively) high rate of vascular injury and would be the reason he was taken immediately to the hospital.

Anyone remember Napoleon McCallum, the Oakland Raiders tailback? He had a severe knee injury with vascular compromise. Almost needed to have his leg amputated.
