well that's the obvious difference that doesn't get thrown out enough. bama has a legitimate in-state rival. LSU, who is your legitimate in-state rival to compete for marcus spears? TIA.

Other SEC teams have in-state rivals, but are not in the same conference or let alone same division. I don't really care for Auburn, but I do realize they are always a threat to Bama and Bama would be a much more dominant team if it were not for Auburn.

The rivalry also makes each program better also though because neither will sit around and watch the other have success without doing anything possible to rise to that level.
