If u were around for Nolans first couple of years, did u want him fired too for being a terrible team?

I'd like an honest answer and expect reasoning to why your opinion differs on Richardson and Anderson. Anderson has a better D1 resume than Nolan when Nolan took the job.

I addressed this in an earlier post. I was 18 years old in Nolan's first season. We had just lost a legend of a coach in Eddie. Nolan's first season while BEYOND bad, had glimpses of what he was trying to do. He did not have the PROPER personell to impliment his style. THAT was obvious. What was also obvious was this was a style that was new and exciting, something unseen in the SWC.

Now, flash forward to Pel. He wanted run the up tempo hawgball as well, so he recruited the correct kind of players for MA to come in and plug and play. Nolan did not have that luxury.

I beg to differ on their resumes. Nolan had won everywhere he had been. JUCO NC, NIT Champ, NCAA appearances. Everyone says but MA has an Elite 8. You know who else has an Elite 8 as a HC. Stan Heath, which is pretty much why we hired him. That and to give the appearance that Broyles wasn't racist.

This is not 1985. You didn't fire coaches after 1 season then, and you don't now. BUT, if you think I'm howling this year wait until we suck air again next year.

This roster would not stack up very well against the teams in the Sunbelt. MA has the exact same hindrance in Year 1 as NR did. Add to it that we started the year with 9 scholarship players and lost one to injury before Game 3.
The players to run MA's system are NOT here. We don't have the long guys at the 2/3 like Todd Day, Lenzie Howell, Roger Crawford, etc...guys who could play the top of that press and frustrate opponents into turnovers in buckets. We don't have the inside presence like Mario Credit, Oliver Miller, Dwight Stewart, Corliss, Alonzo Lane, who could play with their backs to the basket and get the tough rebounds and points in the paint. We don't have a sharpshooter like Dillard, Thurman, Day, Mayberry, Pargo, or even Warren Linn or Cannon Whitby to shoot over zones. We don't have a defensive stopper with a huge heart like Corey Beck, Clint McD, Truck Bowers, Robert Shepherd to clamp down the opponent's top scorer. There is very, very little on this roster to work with. Getting 18 wins out of this group was a good season. BJ Young, Hunter Mickelson and Marshawn Powell are the only guys who could start on any of the other 10 teams in the league not named Kentucky.

Depth and talent were just not there. Look at the roster. Notice I didn't blame youth. KY is winning with youth, so the right youth can win.

MA's system will win today. As will any system with superior players. He's just got to get them here. That's where his legacy here at Arkansas will be set. Get the talent and watch him win. Keep failing on talent and commence the coaching search.
