does it bother anyone else that jj validates his performance with statements like this?
Not at all. He is likely the starting QB for an NC contender team.
Do you prefer him to say "It is likely that I will be the winningest QB in Tiger history, but it has nothing to do with me. I am the weakest part of the team."
The only reason that teams get a shot at the NCG is their BCS ranking. That ranking is somewhat dependant on preseason projections. He should at every chance project confidence in his abilities. If he doesn't, then he should be on the bench.

no, i'd prefer him not to mention it at all. to me, this is him saying, "f' yall haters. i'm doing a great job. see, i'm about to be the winningest qb in lsu history." we could probably put any legit qb in the position granted to jj and they would be equally successful, if not more.

Something like that, yea.
I guess I would have preferred him to say something along the lines of "yea, we've won a lot of games since I've been here. I gotta give all the credit to my teammates and my coaches for sticking by me and never giving up. I've been very fortunate to have great players around me who can make plays. All I really need to do is make good decisions, not make mistakes, and get them the ball."
A lot of really great QBs talk like this...but, hey, they are who they are and JJ is who he is.
And he's wrong. He is not close to Hodson.
