Bear would sign kids just to keep them away from another team but he never paid or gave extra benefits to players to play. My high school coach was AA linebacker for Coach Bryant and I have an All SEC fullback that lives in my town and I have spoken to both about this subject before and both said with great conviction that no players in there time which was the 60's ever was paid to their knowledge. FYI
