I really don't understand why this is such an issue for so many people. This isn't directed at the OP because a similar thread will come up 145 more times between today and the Oregon-Auburn game.
If I pull for Arkansas and they win , do you think Petrino in the post game presser will say, "you know,it looked bleak at the start of the fourth qtr, but I knew good ol' I-59 Tiger was pulling for us. The boys fed off that."
Football recruiting in the SEC is intense, almost too intense and not real gentlemenly. Bowl wins and rankings are used against rival schools. Its almost to another SEC team's advantange for a rival school to lose their game.
SEC football is king. It's not even close. The domination of the SEC rivals what UCLA did in college basketball from '67-'73. The rest of the world knows its place. No other team will be 'harmed' "next year" by what happens to another team this bowl season.
Basketball is more dicey. Kentucky and Tennessee and Florida (mainly because of Pearl and Donovan) get lots of attention and some favoritism to a degree but to paraphrase the great philosopher Patrick F. Dye, the rest of the league is "scratchin' and clawin' just tryin' to make the tournament". If you like college basketball it does help the rest of the league when an SEC member makes a nice run, like UT did last Spring. LSU winning the '09 title and being seeded 8 really said the SEC sucks.
Football ? Screw 'em.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

FACT: If LSU wins our bowl game and the other 9 SEC teams lose their respective bowl games, LSU will have the BEST recruiting class in the SEC. All the recruits will immediately recognize LSU's extreme awesomeness and will run away screaming from all the other SEC schools.
This is a FACT. It's an airtight, waterproof theory like global warming or something.
