They were not given the chance to vote for Col Reb. They had the black bear, a land shark, and a body suit with built in muscles called Hotty Toddy. Only something like 17% of the student body bothered to vote because the choices were so bad.

Sedonnah Jamierson, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., said "...everyone still wants the mascot to be Colonel Reb.", "I'm pretty much going with what doesn't look stupid. That helped me make my decision," for Hotty Toddy.
