Plus: “The solicitation of cash or benefits by either a potential student-athlete or another person on their behalf is not allowed under NCAA rules,” Stacey Osburn, NCAA spokesperson, told the New York Times in reference to this matter.
It's pretty clear-cut, just the solicitation is not allowed. I suggest you purchase and read a NCAA Manual.

I admire you AU fans. It's you against the world. Most of you are too young to remember the ultra severe penalties levied against Au burn back in the last half of the 20th century. When the flames come lickin up around your mouths, you'll still be screaming to the world, "We're clean, we haven't done nuthing!" Then, you'll disappear for a decade. You might wind up like SMU!
