The new Pac 10 Commish. impressed me. He understands his conference very well and also understands the public's perceptions of both the big 10 and sec. As the facts show ( and i hate to admit it) but the pac 10 has a winning record over every other conference in footbal, and he spoke about how he plans to change that persona. As much as we hate USC, I'm glad for the Pac-10 because I believe this guy will do great things for their conference. As all of us know, better competition breeds champions. Good luck to the Pac-10 as a whole.

hopefully he isn't an old fart that thinks a Big 10-Pac 10 Rose Bowl meeting is the best thing since sliced bread

Well he isn't old at all and actually didn't count out his conference granting two more spots in the conference in order to have a conf. championship. He did however point out important obstacles that each conferences have to address that makes such a decision very complicating.

The Pac 10 Needs to add Boise State and Utah or BYU and have a 12 team conference with a Pac 10 championship game to be taken seriously.

i dont think the other pac10 schools want boise in. They aren't good at other sports and they are seen as a 3rd rate school.

Boise state, Utah, even Hawaii,,I say Hawaii because I would have to believe if they became part of the Pac 10, that they would be able to recruit better. On the downside, as Larry Scott indicated, he would have to look at a potential university's academic backgrownd first because he sais that is the most important criteria

Very true,, If there is ONE team I want in there, it is Utah. As of right now, I would put them as a top three football team in the Pac 10. The problem lies within the amount of other NCAA sports offered and academics. Like I said earlier, Mr. Scott made sure to say that he wants universities with an abudance of Olympic sports and great academics. If it were to ever happend that the Pac 10 became the Pac 12, it would be hard to find two other universities that fit the profile of what the new commish wants.

the only ones i can think of are utah and byu to keep the conf the way it is. They are pretty close to each other as far as sports go and they already have a rivalry. I don't know how they are academically though.
