I've been asking this since yesterday afternoon and nobody is answering.

We know this draft is not good. We should have traded BI last summer for a top pick in last years draft. The disconnect is that you’re way overvaluing BI. It’s a huge risk for a team to take a guy with one year on his contract who wants a max contract. Especially when that guy has proven he doesn’t deserve it.

While this makes a lot of sense, I disagree because trading him last year likely meant getting Scoot, Miller, or one of the Thompsons. I would much rather turn BI into any of the following:

Topic
Trae Young
Dejounte Murray
Alex Sarr
Reed Sheppard

All are better options for this team than anything available last year. The only exception is Dame, and he had zero interest in coming here.

Not really

He's just with a LOT more than #5 in this draft

People are way under-valuing him. He's a top 40-50 player. 25/5/5 guys with good %s and playmaking ability are not common. Yes, he has limitations and he doesn't fit with Zion, but he's not some scrub.

We just see his limitations and his injuries (as well as Zion's) in the playoffs were the last memories of him for us.

It’s like a bet on draft kings or fanduel where you could see early on it probably isn’t going to pan out but you stubbornly refused to cash out to only take a small loss. Now it’s the start of the 4th quarter and the cash out option is about a $1.82. We waited too long, BI is further exposed as a flawed player that misses a lot of time, and everyone knows we don’t want to extend him. Seems unlikely there’s a deal that looks like a win on day one.
