Do not plant bamboo. Worst decision you could make. Previous owners of my house planted bamboo years ago, and guess who has to deal with it now every spring.

Bamboo is a great option for this, but the corten steel planters to fit a privacy hedge won't be cheap. That's the planter you need so the bamboo doesn't break out. They look awesome when they rust over.
