Because there's longer term implications, like the message it sends to players that they can hold the program at ransom or that we're willing to throw more money at transfers/mercenaries than our own homegrown guys.

This is dumbass logic and you’re creating a problem in your head that isn’t actually there.
Let me know when Oklahoma’s players start holding the program “ransom”, I’ll eat crow when that happens.
