Curious about your honest assessment. Is it coaching or talent or a combination of both? About the only thing my son commented on watching the game is that A&M looked more physical than Texas. He plays hs baseball now and is very observant that way. It was the first thing he said when he saw the two teams.

Schloss has recruited lights out since getting to A&M, so there will only be a handful or two of teams that have our depth and nearly all of them will be in the SEC.
Pierce is using the old model of recruiting and developing HS kids. Granted, recruiting at Texas is much easier than Tulane and Sam Houston.

No way those skinny 18 year olds will compete with older, physical transfer players that have been cherry picked from the 300+ teams playing college baseball.

Pierce does not seem like a guy that has a command of the baseball landscape that has completely changed in the last few years. Loosing your starting team from one year and adding a transfer or two the next year is a good recipe for getting your arse kicked.

Texas baseball has always been about pitching and defense. Neither peace is elite, and neither has any hope of carrying the other.

A&M looked good Tuesday night. Texas didn't.

Texas starts conference play this weekend so they didn't use many frontline pitchers Tuesday. The guys that played may have some longer term promise, but baseball is more of a right now kinda game.

Texas NIL for Football is an A+. For Baseball, who knows? I would guess somewhere close to a C+.

Average coaching + average players + average NIL is going to be ... average.
