It definitely helped Texas. They had to put Bama in after beating UGA and they had to put Texas in to avoid the head to head controversy. FSU got screwed twice.

Four undefeated conference champions already ranked 1-4 would have wrapped everything up with a nice bow and nobody would have lobbied for Texas.
