In year 6 at that school? A shitload of teams. UGA had it happen in 2021 and won a natty with their backup. Bama replaced Hurts midgame with Tua and won a title in 2018. Utah has been kicking arse with their All-American QB out. Tennessee would probably be better with their freshman backup. LSU would have the same two losses and possibly a third with Nuss, and that would be after losing their entire offensive identity.

Its not like Wiegman was elite. You do realize they were on their way to a either a loss or closer game with Auburn when he went down right? It could easily be argued they would have 4 losses if he HADNT gotten hurt. The point being, it is entirely on the head coach to have a backup ready, especially one that was hired specifically due to his ability to run a high powered offense and whisper sweet nothings in the ear of the QB.

And define "backup". Johnson's start against Tennessee was the 20th of his career.
