The problem with that assumption is you ignore the X's and O's. Some of the little brothers in the Big 12 may not have had the high rated Jimmy and Joe, but the dude standing on the sideline coaching them knew how to turn some of the lowly 3 stars into studs. And there was a lot of those type coaches in the Big 12 with a lot of longevity...Look at the records at TCU, Baylor, Okie State, Kstate. You very rarely see those teams get blown out, even if they play decent out of conference teams in Bowl Games it's usually always a dog fight, and sometimes they beat some pretty good teams and the Big 12 has had some good records in bowls..

The NFL is filled with a lot of 3 star nobodies that played at nowhere U and developed into hosses..
