Most people can't because these companies hold you hostage by relying on them for Internet service. The only two providers in my area are Comcast and at&t. Neither of them really let you just subscribe to Internet service alone. You CAN, but they jack the price up if you don't also subscribe to TV.

It's all a scam.

That's not entirely accurate. I've had Spectrum for 2 years just because it was the most convenient for my address. I had internet and cable service with them. When I joined I had a 24-month discount on internet which was set to exprire October 1st 2023.

Last Thursday when they cut ESPN with no warning, I took my boxes and remotes at lunch on Friday and said I want to keep the internet but ditch the TV. They said it was no problem, and since I was changing service it was technically now a new contract, meaning I got another 24 monht discount on my internet service.

I don't like Spectrum and I'm not exactly singing their praises, but you absolutely most certainly can have them for JUST internet, and they aren't going to punish you for doing that.
