And even that surrender almost didn't happen. A cadre of army officers tried to launch a coup to topple the government and keep Japan in the war. Only a direct appeal by the Emperor sealed the deal.
We wouldn't have had another bomb ready for 6 months so the invasion of Japan (with Russian forces invading the North of Japan) would have happened.
