I'm not sold they will be able to change the identity of their offense in one off season, though. It will be interesting to watch.

We're not necessarily going to change our identity, but gone are the days of pass-happy offense. We don't have a first round talent at QB this year. In all actuality, this may not be such a bad thing. We're going to line up, and smash people in the trenches. We have an elite O-line and elite RBs. Tyler Buchner is a legit running threat.

I think most of the passing game this year will come off of run fakes. As long as our offense can avoid negative plays, I think we'll be fine.

The real difference will be seen on defense. We're going back to our old school, tough as nails defense. Alabama will once again have a defense that people fear.

Isn't that the very definition of changing your identity?

Alabama went from a run heavy, defense oriented team, to a pass happy outscore the other teams to now going more towards a more balanced offense.
Those are three very distinct identities. I'm not saying it is a bad thing...just different from what you have been the last 4-5 years.

That comes from a change in your offensive philosophy. You cannot have a "old school, tough as nails defense" with a pass happy offense.
