Bingo. Expand too much and it looses its identity.

I think this threat to identity applies to the sport overall. The more it seems like a dysfunctional pro league, the less and less I care. If they want to pay the players and let them switch teams at will, just divorce the teams from the schools because at that point they can’t even pretend(like they still do) to be student athletes. They will never do this because they know that the fans will stop caring if it’s the Columbia SC minor league football team instead of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
