Where did I crawfish? I’ve repeated everything I’ve said.

According to the NCES, less than 2% of students are held back yearly, and the vast majority of those are due to academic or behavioral issues.

To recap: No, a lot of 8th and 9th graders do not “redshirt” for sports. That’s almost unheard of. And although being held back for sports does happen, it almost universally happens at a younger age.
