quote:Honestly? Saban has done it for so long, I'm not sure even then it would be debatable. Maybe. It would be getting much closer, but...I don't know. I have an awful lot or respect for what Saban has done. It's not a short term thing. People can have short term success, but sustaining it year after year is the tough part. Meyer did well in short spurts, but could not sustain it without having stretches in between.
I agree. This is a very fair assessment. Y’all should win this year so if he can get one more in the next 3 years it’ll be debatable.
Maybe Kirby can do it. We'll see. The bad thing is, fans typically don't fully understand how good a stretch is until after it's over. I played for a high school coach tat reached 300 wins at the youngest age in the state of Georgia.(At the time. I don't know if anybody has eclipsed it yet) Everybody knew he was good, but I don't think anybody fully appreciated him until after his death.
