Because they think they are picked up by another team most times and recruiters can back out on their word.
Also, they jump the gun thinking they are good with the next team and it falls through.

The son didn't run his portal process, his dad did.
Also, that same dad assisted other parents at Mich st. with their transfer info.
Don't really care if you believe me, just sharing real insight from someone who actively works within it.
